About us

Plastic Soup Foundation

We are a foundation with the mission to stop the plastic tsunami.

Together we can close the tap

Since Plastic Soup Foundation was founded, we have had one goal: to put an end to the endless stream of (disposable) plastic. Despite the overwhelming amount of plastic produced every day, we see solutions. We know that legislation is of vital importance in this, and thanks to our supporters and partners, we are already further than ever to reach this goal. In 10 years, people will think very differently about plastic than they do now. With today's pioneers, we are creating tomorrow's future.

We are a people-funded organisation.

Your support and donations are crucial to us continuing our fight for a cleaner, safer world. All proceeds go towards supporting our mission, amplifying the push for good plastic legislation and providing consumers with tools to take control of their plastic use, such as the Beat the microbead app.

‘FOR REASONS THAT DEFY ALL LOGIC AND RESPONSIBILITY, PLASTICS HAVE LARGELY ESCAPED REGULATORY SCRUTINY FOR OVER 100 YEARS’

Science at our core

Scientists have been ringing the alarm bell on plastic chemicals, micro/nano-plastics and the known impact on human health for decades. World leaders, via UNEP, say human health is an important focus for the Plastics Treaty. But to date protecting human health is not being given the urgent consideration it warrants. That is why some of the world’s top scientists, represented by the Plastic Health Council, have come together to codify the HEALTH SCIENTISTS’ GLOBAL PLASTICS TREATY.

Plastic Health Council

Introducing some of the expert scientists of the Plastic Health Council, dedicated to researching the far-reaching impact of micro, nano-plastics and chemicals on human health.

The Plastic Health Council brings together Plastic Soup Foundation and A Plastic Planet, united in their commitment to support the expert scientists, ensuring their research on micro and nano plastics, and the impact of their chemical additives on human health, is considered in the UN Global Plastics Treaty negotiations.
